Ms. Pedersen has spent the last 25 years personally and professionally developing a career which has embraced all aspects of Human Resources and Labour Relations. Her experience includes senior roles in management and union positions as well as private consulting. Lis’ extensive experience in the area of human resources and labour relations is diverse and includes not-for-profit, healthcare and both local and provincial government sectors. She has served on various boards including Law Enforcement and Nursing practice.Lis’ area of specialty encompasses all aspects of human resources and labour relations and her recent work includes the local government sector, in a variety of senior strategic roles including Director of Employee and Technology Services which oversees leadership development, coaching, education and training. Lis has developed corporate strategic and operating plans for human resources and labour relations and has extensive experience in the area of collective bargaining/negotiations, recruitment and retention, payroll and benefit administration, compensation, performance enhancement, policy development, disability management, corporate training and education; and senior leadership coaching. Experience has only convinced Lis that too many organizations today routinely underutilize the human resources function and treat it as a mere transactional resource while ignoring its inherent strategic planning and organizational development potential. Labour relations is a complex and multi-faceted discipline that Lis has mastered. Her ability to quickly understand the issues and deliver solutions has been acknowledged by organizations that recognize her as an expert in this field. Lis’ understanding and application of social psychology has garnered her respect. This knowledge has helped organizations to implement good, fact-based business and people decisions. Lis’ analytical and problem-solving approach has provided her clients with new-found solutions to complex human resources/labour relations problems. Lis earned her degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary, with a focus on public administration and psychology. She has completed course work in Conflict Resolution through the Justice Institute of British Columbia and has completed the Project Management Leadership courses at Cornell University.
