Developing Effective Workplace Communication

Developing Effective Workplace CommunicationEffective communication is a critical component of organizational success. The execution of every organizational strategy begins with a well planned communications process. Learning to communicate effectively is therefore essential to the leader’s ability to achieve organizational outcomes. It is through the communication process that will ensure employee understanding, commitment and motivation. An effective communications strategy will link the employee to the organizational outcome. Leaders that can align individual employee responsibilities and daily activities to the organizational vision and strategic plan have a much greater success in reaching their goals. Despite this critical value, very few leaders spend time preparing their personal and organizational communication strategy. No wonder why even great visions fail; they aren’t supported by an effective communication strategy!

Cognitively, we understand that intentional positive communication builds trust while limited or unclear communication destroys it. We also know that frequent, concise and simple communication has a positive impact on productivity and morale; leading to increases in organizational effectiveness and the bottom line. Conversely, we know that when communication is limited from management, employees will seek information from other sources; which unfortunately, tends to be harmful untruth rumors and innuendos. This typically leads to tension, anxiety, bad behaviour, increased conflict, illness and mistrust between the ‘management’ and the ‘employee’ group. Furthermore, especially in uncertain times, poor communications will have a damaging effect on morale and performance. Progressive leaders understand the power of communications and will strategically incorporate a communications plan that addresses these predictable issues.

In this THREE DAY program, you will learn the technical and tactical skills of effective workplace communications. You will take an in-depth look at cutting-edge research in behavioural science, communications theory and negotiation analysis; providing you with proven models that are highly successful and adaptable to your specific organization. Understand the power and the ‘Art of Persuasion’ and how you can directly impact how messages are perceived. Great communicators can even turn a negative message around and use it to calm, reassure and motivate their employees. Your communication skill is the single most important tool that you must have!
