Chiefs Under Fire...Are You Ready?

In 2010, Canadian Professional Management Services in partnership with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, Calgary Fire Department, Alberta Fire Chiefs Association, Toronto Fire Services, Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, and Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal held the inaugural International Conference for Fire & Rescue Executive in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The conference highlighted the importance of executive career development. Highly respected fire chiefs, emergency services executives, and private sector executives offered their perspectives on the vital task of bullet-proofing one's career.

Delegates heard speakers highlight key issues that can end a executive's career if not properly managed. Speakers included Chief W. Bruce Burrell, President of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs; Chief William A. Stewart, Toronto Fire Services; Gary Dobson, Director of Operational Policy and Training, London Fire Brigade; Chief Gregory M. Dean, Seattle Fire Department; Chief Joanne Hayes-White, San Francisco Fire Department; Chief Al Gillespie, North Las Vegas Fire Department; Chief William Mosher, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service; and Chief John McKearney, Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services.
